Brienz Rothorn Railway

The Brienz Rothorn Railway is the oldest steam-cog-railway in Switzerland that has never been electrified and guarantees daily steam-trains throughout the summer season.

Experience all your senses – feel the chugging of the steam locomotive, see and smell the rising steam and hear how the steam engine pushes the wagons up the steep 7.6 km long train track. Fantastic views await as the train puffs its way up through leafy forests and steep cliffs – keep your camera at the ready! The last section of the journey takes you across green alpine meadows towards the steep, craggy cliffs. Discover the many alpine flowers and animals along the way.

Once at the top, an amazing 360° panoramic view awaits. Nowhere else in Switzerland can you see more mountain peaks than at the lookout point at the top of Rothorn Kulm. Let yourself be pampered in the Hotel Rothorn Kulm and enjoy a meal with a view! The sunny terrace is the perfect place to enjoy the warm rays of the sun and leave all your cares behind.
