Brienz Rothorn Railway
Rothorn mountains are many… but there is only one in the Bernese Oberland which overlooks the village of Brienz and the aquamarine coloured lake of Brienz.
And only here, 15 km from the famous town of Interlaken, can one ascend in such a romantic and impressive fashion… with the Brienz Rothorn Railway, the oldest steam-cog railway in Switzerland. Since 1892 trains have been puffing, wheezing and snorting their way up to Rothorn Kulm and back. Think you could climb 1'678 m without puffing!
You will be rewarded with fantastic panoramic views, friendly service in the Hotel Rothorn Kulm and unique hiking trails. A thrilling ride for families, groups, schools and all age groups.
