Gelmer Funicular
The Gelmer funicular with its 106 % gradient is the steepest funicular in the world.
This breathtaking ride takes you up to the picturesque Gelmer lake - where you could hike around the lake (takes approx. 2 hours), hike up to the Gelmer hut (approx. 2 ½ hours), or just relax and enjoy the magnificent views. This former transport lift for the KWO power company was opened to the public in 2001.
The funicular can transport 24 persons with a minimum of four persons.

The bottom station of the Gelmer funicular is just off the Grimsel pass road and can be easily reached by car or pus bus.
Price:
- Adults retourn CHF 27.00 / one way CHF 17.00
- Children 6 – 16 years retourn CHF 17.00 / one way CHF 12.00
- Children under 6 free of charge
- Every 2nd child in a family rides for free (accompanied by parent)
