The Priest and the Captain
At the beginning of the twentieth century, no-one would have believed that airplanes would soon take the place of balloons and zeppelins. Balloons were still in their hay-day and were great attractions at fairs and were being used for scientific experiments and for military purposes.
In «The Priest and the Captain », the balloon pioneer Captain Kasparo comes into a small village in the Bernese Oberland to begin preparations for his crossing of the alps. Captain Kasparo and his planned alpine crossing are anathema to the village priest and he tries as hard as he can to thwart the venture. Will the balloon be able to take off after all the intrigue, conflict and confusion?
« The Priest and the Captain » is a comedy about faith and progressive frenzy, pretension to power and the desire for freedom and, last but not least, an old and a new love story. Experience outdoor theatre art.
