Woodcarving school Brienz

The woodcarving school in Brienz is the only institution in Switzerland where the craft of woodcarving can be learnt.

It was founded in 1884 as the «Schnitzlerschule Brienz» and has been a technical school since 1928. Around the year 1900 there were 650 woodcarvers working in or around Brienz.

Opening times
Monday – Thursday 08.00 – 11.30 hours / 14.00 – 17.00 hours
Friday 14.00 – 16.00 hours


Swiss wood carving Museum

The only museum in Switzerland that devotes itself solely to wood carving and wood sculpture is located in heritage-protected premises at Ed. Jobin LTD in the heart of Brienz.

Opening hours:

January: closed

February - April: Tuesday - Saturday, 13.30 - 17.30 h

May - September: Monday - Sunday, 09.00 - 18.00 h non stop

October: Tuesday - Saturday, 09.00 - 12.00 / 13.30 - 17.30 h

November: closed

December: Tuesday - Saturday, 13.30 - 17.30 h

Easter vacation: 13.30 - 17.30 h
