Excavations under the Michaels Church in Meiringen
During renovations in 1915/16 the remains of 3 previous churches were found five metres under the level of the present church.
In 2005 the archeological department of Bern completely excavated, investigated and documented the interesting history of this church. The excavations are open to the public and are signposted in German and English. Entrance is on the west side of the church near the main doors.
